Retail Performance Support
Overview
The Home Depot Canada (“THD-C”) recognized an opportunity to enable store associates through “fingertip knowledge” on a tablet that delivers relevant information on in-stock products regardless of an associate’s tenure or work experience. THD-C uses ten shared Apple iPad Mini tablets to provide performance support information to 100+ store associates in a retail environment using a customized CellCast app that assists them in answering frequently asked questions, reviewing “How To…” guides, and accessing current product videos and training modules.

Mobile
Home Depot branded the CellCast app as the Home Depot “SMaRT” app and provided a clear and intuitive interface for store associates. All shared devices were preloaded with 2GBs of product videos and documentation that can be searched, browsed by department, or “scanned” using a built-in QR code reader in the mobile UX that interprets corresponding “aisle # and bay #” designations affixed to store shelving.

Integration
OnPoint worked with THD-C staff to automate the importation of content items from other sources which become the various FAQs and links to other existing online resources. A private store version of CellCast, branded as The Home Depot SMaRT app, is distributed and controlled through THD-C’s Mobile Iron MDM platform.
